CPAP users - tell me about your first week or 2 using the device please?

I'm testing one now. I have mild something something apnea, and the sleep specialist suggested trying CPAP, but hasn't said "you REALLY need it" or anything like that.

So I'm 6 nights in at this point, and if anything, my experience with it seems to be getting worse, not better.

The first night I wore it, I actually forced myself to keep it on for the entire sleep period (except for an "I have to pee" disconnect" and slept like hell, waking up very frequently.

Second night was a bit better, but that was probably more a result of a busy day and me being exhausted.

Third night, at about 4 hours in, I woke up and just didn't feel like I was getting any air in through my nose. No runny nose / sick type of congestion, but as I read later, being congested from drying out can be a problem, so raise the humidity and temperature by a step each.

Night 4, 5 and 6 each pushed the humidity adjustment a step higher, and on each night I only had the mask on for 2 hours or so when I woke up, couldn't get it to feel right again, and said "to hell with this" and took it off. Even with humidity at the max for my machine, I still wake up with my nose feeling dry AND plugged. It's not until after I shower that I feel hydration in my nasal passages and am able to actually blow my nose.

So what was your first week or 2 like? Should I keep fighting through it to see if it gets better? Will it ultimately be worth it?

And could allergy meds (generic zyrtec) be making it worse, as that medicine usually makes my sinuses feel dried out, but not stuffy?
